CES 2027 takes over Las Vegas January 6–9, bringing together executives, exhibitors, major brands, startups, and tech professionals from around the world.
But this article isn't about CES. It's about what to do while you're here.
After a full day at the convention, you'll probably want a change of scenery. Fortunately, Las Vegas has plenty to offer.
Here are some of the best things to do in Las Vegas during CES 2027.
Experience Sphere Las Vegas
Sphere Las Vegas is worth experiencing at least once, especially if you appreciate an incredible production.
The Wizard of Oz is an amazing immersive show that runs daily. THough you’ll miss the Metallica resedency (they come back at the end of January) you may be able to snag tickets for the Eagles.
A local tip: Unless you're attending a concert and want to be close to the band, don't worry about purchasing the most expensive seats. Sphere offers a great experience throughout the venue, including the upper sections. Save some money and enjoy the show.
The venue is spacious, well-organized, and easy to navigate, with helpful staff throughout.
Catch a Classic Las Vegas Show
If you haven't seen Mystère by Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island, start there. It's a Las Vegas classic featuring incredible acrobatics, costumes, music, and theatrical performances.
If you've already experienced Mystère, consider Absinthe at Caesars Palace for something more intimate, comedic, and adult-oriented.
Another excellent option is O by Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio, known for its elaborate aquatic performances.
All three are established productions, but check January schedules before booking.
Though not under the Cirque umbrella, you also couldn’t go wrong these amazing acts: Carrot Top, The Blue Man Group, and Piff The Magic Dragon.
Take a Helicopter Tour Over Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon
Whether you want to fly over the illuminated Strip, explore the surrounding desert, or visit the Grand Canyon, a helicopter tour is a memorable way to experience Nevada.
Maverick Helicopters is one of our recommended operators, although several established companies offer similar experiences.
For something more substantial, Maverick's Wind Dancer Grand Canyon tour flies over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead before landing inside the canyon.
Even a short flight over the Strip is worth considering. Tours are weather-dependent, so book accordingly.
Drive an Exotic Supercar at SPEEDVEGAS
If heights aren't your thing but you have a need for speed, Las Vegas has you covered.
You can rent a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or another exotic car for a few hours, a day, or your entire stay through DREAM Exotics.
But if you actually want to experience what these cars can do, Exotics Racing at SPEEDVEGAS lets you drive high-performance vehicles on a professional racetrack with an instructor.
It's a lot more exciting than sitting in Strip traffic.
Experience Las Vegas Nightlife at Spearmint Rhino
For a taste of the more notorious side of Sin City, Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas is one of the city's best-known gentlemen's clubs.
Open 24/7, Spearmint Rhino offers VIP entertainment, a full bar, food, and private accommodations.
The party atmosphere typically picks up after 11 p.m. and continues until around 2 or 3 a.m.
A local tip: Visit during happy hour, before 8 p.m., for select $100 bottles and other specials. Prices for the same bottles can climb significantly later in the evening. Check the current menu for inexpensive wings and other food specials.
Explore the Las Vegas Strip
If you've visited Vegas before, you've probably done the Strip. Still, a few attractions are worth revisiting.
The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens features beautiful seasonal displays and is completely free. The Bellagio Fountains are another classic.
You can also casino-hop, grab drinks, or ride the High Roller Observation Wheel at The LINQ Promenade for panoramic views of the city.
Sometimes simply walking around and taking in the atmosphere is enough. Don’t take any beads from the monks though, whatever they’re shilling isn’t altruistic.
Visit AREA15 and the John Wick Experience
AREA15 is one of Vegas' more unusual entertainment destinations, featuring immersive art, interactive attractions, restaurants, and experiences.
One attraction worth checking out is the John Wick Experience, featuring a recreation of the Continental with interactive challenges, themed environments, and immersive storytelling.
It's a fun alternative to traditional casino entertainment.
Explore Downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street
Downtown Vegas is a favorite among locals, but everybody's welcome.
Fremont Street Experience offers old-school casinos, live entertainment, street performers, and plenty of inexpensive food and drinks.
The casinos are smaller and closer together, making casino-hopping much easier. Some offer better gaming rules, although that depends on the tables.
You'll also find affordable pizza, tacos, cheap souvenirs, and plenty of colorful characters.
Just watch out for the ladies in lingerie carrying whips.
Overall, Downtown is entertaining, affordable, and a little unpredictable, which is part of its appeal.
Visit the Mob Museum
If you're interested in history, law enforcement, or organized crime, The Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas is well worth visiting.
The museum explores organized crime in America, including its influence on Las Vegas and the law enforcement efforts that brought many operations down.
Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman helped establish the museum. Before becoming mayor, he was a prominent criminal defense attorney who represented figures including Frank Rosenthal and Anthony Spilotro, whose stories inspired the movie Casino.
The museum is exceptionally well-organized, with historical artifacts, interactive exhibits, and plenty of fascinating stories.
Visit Planet 13 for Legal Cannabis
Cannabis is legal in Nevada for adults 21 and older, but visitors should know where they're buying it.
Avoid cannabis “shops” and dealers near Fremont Street and the Strip. They don’t sell real weed.
Planet 13, located just off the Strip, is one of the city's largest licensed dispensaries, offering a wide selection of products and a free shuttle from participating Strip hotels.
You'll get regulated, tested products and knowledgeable staff who can help you find what you're looking for.
Remember that public consumption is restricted, including inside casinos and most hotels.
Check Out Resorts World, Fontainebleau, and Durango Casino
Resorts World and Fontainebleau Las Vegas are two newer upscale resorts on the northern Strip.
Both feature excellent restaurants, impressive interiors, and stylish lounges. If you're looking for somewhere classy to grab drinks or entertain clients, either is a good choice.
For something more intimate, head southwest of the Strip to Durango Casino & Resort, a popular spot among locals with excellent dining and a relaxed casino atmosphere.
The George Sportsmen's Lounge is especially good for catching a game, with plenty of screens, food, drinks, and an outdoor patio.
South Point and Silverton Casino
If you've got cowboy blood, South Point Hotel & Casino is your kind of place.
Known for its equestrian facilities, rodeos, and Western atmosphere, South Point also has the Garden Buffet, one of Vegas' remaining traditional all-you-can-eat buffets at reasonable prices.
A short drive away is Silverton Casino, connected to Bass Pro Shops.
Its main attraction is a massive 117,000-gallon aquarium featuring tropical fish, stingrays, sharks, and live mermaid performances.
The aquarium is free, although mermaid appearances take place at scheduled times.
Make the Most of Your CES 2027 Visit
CES might bring you to Las Vegas, but there's plenty worth experiencing outside the convention.
From nightlife and world-class shows to history, exotic cars, and local casinos, there's something for just about everyone.
Book popular experiences ahead of time, particularly during CES week, and make the most of your visit.
